Kornel Makuszyński
Kornel Makuszyński (born January 8, 1884 in Stryj , † July 31, 1953 in Zakopane ) was a Polish poet, theater critic and writer.
Life
Makuszyński wrote his first poems at the age of 14. He studied philology at the University of Lviv and in Paris. Since 1918 he lived in Warsaw , since 1945 in Zakopane. Makuszyński became a member of the Polish Academy of Literature ( Polska Akademia Literatury ) and received numerous prizes.
Several of Makuszyński's works have been filmed, including the novels Awantura o Basię (1959 by Maria Kaniewska ) and O dwóch takich, co ukradli księżyc (1962 by Jan Batory ). The series of children's books Przygody Koziołka Matołka was in the form of cartoons filmed; the phrase w Pacanowie kozy kują ( in Pacanów goats are shod with hooves ) became famous in Poland.
In Zakopane there is a museum dedicated to Kornel Makuszyński.
