Pacanów is a city in the Powiat Buski in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland . It has about 1,137 inhabitants (2003).
Pacanów is the administrative seat of the urban-and-rural municipality ( gmina miejsko-wiejska ) Pacanów with 7,800 inhabitants and an area of 123.8 km² . 87% of the area of the municipality is used for agriculture.
history
Pacanów received in 1265 the town charter . In the 14th century the city had about 800 inhabitants and was larger than Kielce at that time . In 1700 , cholera raged in the city, causing numerous deaths. A devastating fire disaster followed in 1854 . In 1869 the town charter was revoked. On January 1, 2019, Pacanów was restored to town.

Attractions
In the second half of the 13th century, the St. Martin was Church ( Kościół św. Marcina ) built in the 17th century and by 1768 was expanded.
Przygody Koziołka Matołka
Pacanów is best known as the place that the hero of the children's books of the Przygody Koziołka Matołka series by Kornel Makuszyński , very popular in Poland , should seek. It is a billy goat who is convinced that the local farriers are ready to shod goats with horseshoes. In the years 1933 and 1934 four books are generally published, they were in the form of animated films filmed several times.
The festival Festiwal Kultury Dziecięcej (Festival of Children's Culture) has been taking place in the village since 2003 .
