Johannes J. Arens

Johannes J. Arens (* 1975 in Aachen ) is a German cultural anthropologist, author and journalist with a focus on food culture . Since October 2010 he has been running the blog Nachschlag: Food culture in words and pictures .

Life

Johannes J. Arens trained as a fashion and textile designer at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht , the Netherlands , from 1996 to 2000 and then worked in Amsterdam until 2002 . From 2002 to 2006 he studied cultural anthropology , Dutch and art history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University of Cologne . He is an alumnus of the German National Academic Foundation .

From 2008 to 2010 he was editor of the magazine Männer in Berlin, responsible for politics and life. Between 2009 and 2011 he lectured as a lecturer at the local Institute for German Studies, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, Department of Cultural Anthropology / Folklore.

Since 2009 he has been writing as a freelance writer for taz and the Kölner StadtRevue . He lives in Aachen and Cologne.
