Martina Kirchberg

Martina Kirchberg (* 1957 in Schwalmstadt , nee Wiedorn-Roy) is a German glider aerobatic pilot , aerobatic referee and glider aerobatic trainer.

She began gliding in 1977. In 1984 she acquired her aerobatic license at the Osterwies glider airfield near Altötting and in 1987, with a Lo 100, became German champion in the Advanced class. Then she switched to the Unlimited class and also took part in world championships twice. After a ten-year break from competition, she was tenth in the Unlimited class with a Swift S-1 at the German aerobatic championships in 2010 in Brandenburg an der Havel . In addition, she is involved in promoting young talent, as the first chairman of the Hesse aerobatic community and as a referee in motor aerobatic competitions.

The film Art in the Sky about glider aerobatics from the 1930s to the glider aerobatic world championship in Hockenheim in 1989 contains a short interview with Martina Kirchberg. In 2019 the Hessischer Rundfunk showed in a contribution to the Hercules episode "In the heights of thrill - glider pilots, kite makers and a chimney sweep!" Martina Kirchberg and her son at the Ober-Mörlen airfield.

Martina Kirchberg is married. Her son Moritz became double world champion in gliding aerobatics in 2018 at the age of 20.
