Johannes "Hannes" Jarolim (born December 27, 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician ( SPÖ ). From December 1994 to November 1995 and from February 1997 to October 2019 he was a member of the National Council , from 1998 he was the SPÖ's judicial spokesman.

education and profession

Jarolim attended elementary school from 1961 to 1965 and then switched to a general high school, where he passed the Matura in 1973 . Jarolim began studying law at the University of Vienna , where he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. In 1974 he did his military service.

After completing his studies, Jarolim worked as a trainee lawyer from 1980 to 1986. From 1986 to 1989 he headed the legal office of Austrian Airlines and has been an independent lawyer since 1989 and partner at Jarolim Flitsch Rechtsanwälte GmbH in Vienna since 2006. Until 2013 he was in-house counsel for Austrian Airlines. Jarolim is a founding member of the China-Europe Legal Forum (CELF, 2013) and has been President of the Austro-Chinese Legal Society since 2005.

Johannes Jarolim is involved in Vienna district politics, where he has been a member of the district executive committee of the SPÖ Vienna- Leopoldstadt since 1994 . Jarolim is also a section leader and was elected district party chairman in 2005. He moved into the National Council for the first time on December 15, 1994, to which he was initially a member until November 5, 1995. From February 11, 1997 to October 22, 2019, Jarolim was permanently represented in the National Council. From 1998 he was judicial spokesman for the SPÖ and since that year chairman or vice-chairman in the judicial committee. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.
