Johannes Kolrose
Johann (es) Kolrose (also: Kolross, called Rhodonthracius ) (* around 1487 in Kirchhofen , † around 1560 in Basel ) was a German poet, philologist and educator.
Life
Kolrose was enrolled in Freiburg on August 10, 1503 and began working in 1529 as head of the boys' elementary school in Basel.
In 1530 he wrote a textbook for orthography under the title Enchiridion in Basel . He was best known as a folk playwright. In 1532 his play von Fünfferley bewachtnussen , a kind of dance of death , was performed in Basel . He wrote various texts for hymns of the Reformation, including Where God does not give the house his favor and I thank you, dear lord .
