history
He was a pioneer for tolerant Christianity and made a name for himself as a “pioneer of the Burscheider popular education”. In 1803 he founded a reading society in which books and newspapers were read and read aloud. A street in Burscheid is named after him, on which a bronze statue reminds of him. A grammar school that was closed in 1960 also bore his name. The Johannes-Löh Comprehensive School in Burscheid has borne his name since summer 2014 .
