The Lago della Busalletta is an artificially created lake in the northern Italian Apennine Mountains . It lies on the border between the metropolitan city of Genoa and the province of Alessandria and thus in the two regions of Liguria and Piedmont . The closest municipalities are Fraconalto , Busalla and Ronco Scrivia .

The reservoir was built between 1970 and 1977 and has a capacity of 4.5 million liters of water. It is primarily used to provide additional drinking water in the event of a decrease in the amount of runoff from the Scrivia or a reduction in water reserves in the Laghi del Gorzente . The lake is connected to the waterworks in Mignanego by a pipe , where the water is treated and forwarded. In normal operation, the reservoir supplies the port city of Genoa with 340 liters of drinking water per second and the municipality of Busalla with 30 liters per second.

At the lowest point, the Lago della Busalletta measures 50 meters, with a water surface of around 30 hectares . Trout , chub , pike , carp and tench live in the lake .
