Johannes Michel

Johannes Michel (born July 23, 1863 in Eckwersheim , † after 1918) was a notary and member of the second chamber of the Landtag of the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine .

Life

Johannes Michel, who was of the Protestant denomination, attended the Protestant elementary school, the Protestant grammar school in Strasbourg and studied law at the universities of Strasbourg , Berlin and Heidelberg . He completed his studies with both state exams and a doctorate to become a Dr. jur. from. He then worked as a notary in Oberbronn .

From 1894 he was a member of the municipal council. He was also a member of the Lower Alsace District Assembly and from 1909 to 1911 of the State Committee. He was a member of the board of directors of the Association for Public Poor Care and Private Charity in Alsace-Lorraine.

In the first (and only) election to the state parliament, he ran as an independent candidate in the Niederbronn constituency. In the first ballot, 2910 votes were cast in the constituency of the 4,779 eligible voters. Michel prevailed with 1,757 votes against the social democrat Werner, who had received 1,104 votes. Michel was a member of the state parliament until 1918. In the state parliament he was a guest of the faction of the liberal Alsatian Progressive Party .
