Johannes Schiessl

Johannes Schießl (* 1964 ) is a German journalist . From 1998 to 2012 he was editor-in-chief of the Münchner Kirchenzeitung.

Life

After graduating from the humanistic Wittelsbacher Gymnasium in Munich , Johannes Schießl studied philosophy at the Munich University of Philosophy with an MA. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as assistant to Wolfgang Seibel SJ at the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (ifp) . This was followed by an internship and three years as an editor at the Munich church newspaper . In addition to preparing for his doctorate, which he completed in 1998, he worked as the press spokesman for the Brothers of Mercy in Bavaria . From 1998 to 2012 he was editor-in-chief of the Münchner Kirchenzeitung, as well as in the management of the Sankt Michaelsbund . Since then he has been working as head of studies at the Catholic Academy in Bavaria in Munich.

Participation in committees and professional associations

• Member of the jury of the Catholic Media Prize (July 2011)
• Spokesman for the editors in the Catholic Media Association from 2006 to 2012, GKP member since 1990.
