Wolfgang Seibel (Jesuit)

Wolfgang Seibel SJ (born May 3, 1928 in Hauenstein (Palatinate) ) is a German Jesuit and publicist . Seibel was one of the co-initiators and the first director of the Catholic School of Journalism ifp in Munich .

Life

Wolfgang Seibel studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . In 1953 he was ordained a priest. From 1962 to 1965 he was rapporteur at the Second Vatican Council in Rome. From 1966 to 1998 he was editor-in-chief of the Munich magazine “ Voices of the Time” . He was the head of the Catholic Journalism School in Munich , founded on behalf of the Catholic German Bishops' Conference , from its foundation in 1968 to 1991.

The Pater-Wolfgang-Seibel-Preis , which was donated by the Friends of the Catholic School of Journalism (Fifp), is named after him. The journalism school is run by the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists. The award is intended as a prize for young journalists.
