Johannes Schweisgut

Johannes Schweisgut (born November 18, 1960 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian entrepreneur, former Haflinger breeder and politician ( ÖVP ). From 1999 to 2006 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

Schweisgut attended grammar school after primary school and did military service in 1982 . From 1985 to 2012 he was breeding manager of the Haflinger Horse Breeding Association in Tyrol at Fohlenhof Ebbs . From 1999 to 2012 he was managing partner of Haflinger Im- und Export KG. Schweisgut became General Secretary of the World Haflinger Association in 1985 and succeeded his father Otto Schweisgut as its President in 2000. From 1986 to 2011 Johannes Schweisgut published the international trade magazine Haflinger Horses every quarter . In 2005 Johannes Schweisgut wrote a standard work in horse breeding, the book Haflinger horses .

Between 1984 and 2000, Schweisgut was the head of tourism for Ebbs and the Kufstein region . From 1985 to 1995 he was chairman of the cultural association Episas, which organizes numerous concerts in Ebbs, including Falco , Wolfgang Ambros , Jazz Gitti , Dr. Alban or the Zillertal Schürzenjäger as well as classical concerts, as well as ballet with the Bolshoi Theater. In 2000 he was elected local chairman of the Austrian Economic Association of Ebbs and district chairman of the Austrian Economic Association of Kufstein, which he resigned in 2012.

On October 29, 1999, he entered the National Council and in 2001 became the tourism spokesman for the ÖVP parliamentary club. After the National Council election in 2006 , he resigned from the National Council on October 29, 2006. He no longer ran for election to the National Council, because he wanted to focus more on the management of the Fohlenhof and his role as President of the World Haflinger Association.

In 2012 he resigned as President of the World Haflinger Association and was subsequently unanimously elected Honorary President. Then Johannes Schweisgut founded "HS Lifestyle", a company specializing in organic products, wine, whiskey, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Parmesan and lifestyle products such as glasses and art. Later his wife ran the business.

Schweisgut has been married since 1996 and has one son.
