Johannes Steininger (* 1977 in Linz ) is an Austrian sculptor , space and design strategist, object artist , sound and noise advisor and designer .

academic career

Steininger is a sound artist who studied space and design strategies in Linz, studies in the areas of sound studies, acoustic communication, technical acoustics and auditory architecture followed from 2003 to 2005 (extraordinary degree) at the Anton Bruckner Private University , Studio for Advanced Music & Media Technology . From 2004 to 2008 he completed his bachelor's degree at the University for Artistic and Industrial Design Linz , at the Institute for Raum & Designstrategien and the Institute of Space and Design. This was followed by a master’s degree at the Sound Studies Institute at the Berlin Career College of the Berlin University of the Arts, as well as university training in the sub-area of ​​“auditory architecture” and, from 2010 to 2011, a side-lecture at the Technical University of Berlin at the Technical Acoustics Institute.

He obtained a further academic degree at the Art University for Artistic and Industrial Design Linz, at the Institute for Raum & Designstrategien and the Institute of Space and Design; graduated in 2012 with a PhD at this institution. In 2016, a certified further education in sound measurement technology took place at the LB College in Vienna.

Johannes Steininger mainly works with semi-finished products from the plastics industry and in his aerial art he focuses on noise and sound interventions in auditory architecture and the use of systems and their natural resonance . Steininger is a trained room and design strategist as well as a certified sound and noise consultant. Steininger and his professional experience in Austria encompass a broad knowledge of crossover strategies in the visual arts. During his apprenticeship as a metal fitter, the auditory architecture inspired site-specific sound art projects and works. He led practical workshops on resonance processes as a proseminar leader & guest lecturer at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz and at the TU Vienna , as well as scientific presentations and discussions.
