Johannes Suter

Johannes Suter (born November 25, 1847 in Lampenberg ; † May 13, 1912 in Liestal ; legal resident in Lampenberg) was a Swiss veterinarian and politician .

Life

Johannes Suter was the son of a farmer. After schools and private lessons in Lampenberg and Waldenburg , he attended veterinary schools in Zurich and Bern and continued his education in Berlin . In 1872 he opened a veterinary practice in Lampenberg, which he moved to Liestal the following year. 1872–1873 and 1893–1911 he represented the Liberals in the District Administrator of the Canton of Baselland, and from 1891–1912 he was also a member of the National Council. As a politician, he was mainly involved in agricultural issues. He was president of the Society of Swiss Veterinarians and the Agricultural Association of Basel-Landschaft. 1909–1912 he was a member of the board of the Swiss Farmers' Union.
