Johannes Thomas (painter)
Johannes Thomas (* 1793 in Frankfurt am Main ; † 1863 ibid) was a German painter and lithographer .
Life
Around 1817 Thomas studied at the drawing school of the Darmstadt gallery inspector Franz Hubert Müller . Between 1817 and 1821/22 he was on a scholarship from the Städel Art Institute in Paris, where he studied in the studio of Antoine-Jean Gros and probably Jean-Victor Bertin in 1818 . 1818–1821 he is enrolled at the École des beaux-arts . From 1822 to 1825 he stayed in Rome and Florence , then he was in Frankfurt a. M. resident.
