Johannes Zölner also: Zöllner (born October 31, 1548 in Jena ; † February 15, 1628 there ) was a German rhetorician .

Life

The son of the Jena architect Nicholas publicans (* 1507, † 23 November 1590 in Jena) and his wife Anna Hessling laid the first foundations of his education he attended the Ratschule in Zwickau . In the summer semester of 1567 he enrolled as a student at the University of Jena , where he completed philosophical and theological studies, among others with David Voit . On February 1, 1574 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy , was accepted as a member of the philosophical faculty in 1575 and on March 19, 1583, he was professor of rhetoric at the Jena University. In this capacity, he participated in the organizational tasks of the Salana. He was dean of the philosophical faculty several times and in the summer semesters 1589 and 1605 rector of the alma mater .

Zölner was married three times.

His first marriage was in February 1579 with Anna Wolfram (1546–1590), the widow of councilor Johann Druckscherf (married August 27, 1567; † 1578), as well as the daughter of Jena Mayor Johann Wolfram († 1578) and Sabina Grubner († January 8, 1583).
