The juvenile judge is a film drama by the director Paul Verhoeven from 1960. In the main role , Heinz Rühmann embodies the youthful judge Ferdinand Bluhme , who is understanding and sensitive about the problems of juvenile offenders and their offenses .

action

The juvenile judge Dr. Ferdinand Bluhme is known for his empathy. He is particularly popular with lawyers , as his requirements for juvenile offenders are known to be rather mild. It is all the more surprising that he has no mercy on the young Inge Schumann, who stood by her friend Kurt in an attempt at blackmail , and imposes her imprisonment for a full eight months . What only he knows at this point is the fact that with this supposed harshness of the sentence he only has in mind to withdraw Inge from the criminal environment into which she, for him, obviously her boyfriend has drawn. In this way he wants to give her some distance and increase the chance that she will not let herself be dragged further into the criminal abyss.

Inge, however, does not understand this severe punishment and, in view of this condition, announces her suicide . In view of this statement by Inge, Bluhme reconsiders his judgment. He thinks about how he can keep his goal, the young Inge, outside of her previous criminal environment without having to send her to prison . He got the idea that he could put Inge in the pension where he also lives. This would enable him to observe their actions and prevent further crimes in advance. He converts the sentence imposed on her into a suspended sentence , provided that Inge receives this pension.

Inge willingly follows the judgment. Once at the pension, the attractive Inge arouses the interest of the other male residents. The plot takes a turn when Inge falls a little in love with her judge. Her former friend Kurt notices this and tries to use Inge's feelings for Judge Bluhme to blackmail him.

Reviews

"Comfortable, but with authentic pictures from the 50s 'semi-strong' milieu."

"Optimistic entertainment without depth, but with some relatively well-done games."

"A call to be heeded to help instead of condemn, even if the final depth is missing in the description of the problem."
