John Belchem

John Belchem (born May 30, 1948 ) is a retired British professor whose work on popular radicalism in 19th century Britain , Irish migration, the Isle of Man and modern history includes. He has a particular interest in the history of Liverpool . He was made a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 1987 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts .

Life and academic career

Belchem ​​served as Head of the School of History, Dean of the Arts Faculty, and Vice Dean of Liverpool University . He is currently Vice President of the Society for the Study of Workers' History.

Belchems work on Henry Hunt from the year 1985 made an important contribution to the understanding of " policies of progressive movements in the United Kingdom of the 19th century.
