John Bowers (Author)
John Bowers (born March 12, 1928 in Lenoir City , Tennessee ) is an American writer and journalist.
Bowers grew up in Johnson City . He studied at the University of Tennessee , where he received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1951 . In 1962, he moved to Manhattan and was a professor in the Writing Program of Columbia University . He has also taught for New York State University in Stonybrook and at Wilkes University . He was writer-in-residence at East Tennessee State University .
