John Boyce

John David Edward Boyce is a politician from Barbados from the Democratic Labor Party (DLP), the 2008 to 2013 a member of the House of Assembly and, since 2013 health minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart was.

Life

Degree, manager and entrepreneur

Boyce began after the visit of Harrison College , a mechanical engineering degree at the University of the West Indies , Augustine Campus, which he with a Bachelor of Science finished (B. Sc. Mechanical Engineering). He then worked in the private sector and was initially operations manager at the Banks Barbados Breweries between 1979 and 1982 . He then completed a postgraduate course in brewing science at the University of Birmingham , which he completed with a Master of Science (M. Sc.). In 1986 he was a member of the working group against unemployment in the Ministry of Labor.

He also earned a degree in management from the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP) and was Director of Banks Barbados Breweries between 1990 and 1992 . In 1992 he went into business for himself and founded Econergy Caribbean Limited and Rachel Pringel Brewery . In addition, he was involved in several organizations and was also a member of the supervisory boards of Public Service (Public Utilities Board) , the school foundation of Christchurch and the Barbados External Communications Ltd . He was also President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Director of Arawak Cement Company .

MP and Minister

In the elections of January 15, 2008 Boyce was elected as a candidate of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP) for the first time to a member of the Legislative Assembly and has since represented the constituency of Christ Church South .

Boyce was appointed Minister of Transport, Works and International Transport by Prime Minister David Thompson on November 24, 2008 . On October 23, 2010, he became Minister of Transport and Works in the cabinet of Freudel Stuart, who had assumed the post of Prime Minister after Thompson's death. At the same time he acted as leader of the government in the legislative assembly (Leader of the House) .

After the renewed victory of the DLP in the elections on February 21, 2013 Boyce was appointed by Prime Minister Stuart to succeed Donville Inniss as Minister of Health in his cabinet on February 28, 2013 . Michael Lashley was succeeded as Minister for Transport and Public Works . Boyce remained a minister until the government was replaced in May 2018.

From his marriage to Carolyn Boyce, the son Kevin was born.
