He competes in the Ultimate Armwrestling League and is the reigning UAL champion in the right arm (heavyweight class). In 2015 he won the heavyweight division in the right arm of the World Armwrestling League. Brzenk is highly regarded by experts and in 2000 he was named "Greatest Armwrestler of All Time" by the Guinness Book of Records .

biography

John Brzenk's father, John Brzenk Sr., was also an arm wrestler and Brzenk attributes some of the muscularity of his forearms to his genetics. He armwrestled in his school for about five years. When he was in eighth grade, he broke his arm while arm wrestling with a friend of his father's. At the age of 16 he took part in his first tournament. He was named "Giant Crusher" because he was able to hit opponents that were significantly heavier than him.

Brzenk began his career in 1982. At the age of 18, he won his first world title in 1983 on the ABC show Wide World of Sports . His heaviest opponent weighed 300 kg (660 lbs). Brzenk defeated him. Brzenk lost only one super match in his entire career and only a handful of arm wrestlers could ever beat him, but only later in his career when he was of advanced age. The best known of these are Devon Larratt and Alexey Voyevoda . In addition to arm wrestling, he works as a mechanic at Delta Air Lines . He says this does not affect his arm wrestling as the work is not physical. During his career he has competed for over $ 80,000 at times.

Brzenk won four world championships in the heavyweight division until 1994 and was nicknamed "Superman" because he was able to defeat much tougher opponents. In 1995 he won the World Middleweight Championship. In 1986 he won the arm wrestling tournament of the same name, Over The Top , organized to promote the Sylvester Stallone film Over The Top , which made a significant contribution to the establishment of arm wrestling as a sport in Germany . He then received a brief appearance in the film in 1987 . The documentary "Pulling John", produced by Navid Khonsari and directed by Vassiliki Khonsari and Sevan Matossian, shows Brzenk's legendary career as an arm wrestler and accompanies him to competitions around the world for four years while he is considering retiring from professional arm wrestling .

Dimensions
