John Comyn, Earl of Angus

John Comyn († 1242 ) was a Scottish nobleman and de iure uxoris Earl of Angus .

His father was Richard Comyn, Lord of Badenoch , son of William Comyn, Earl of Buchan († 1233) of the Comyn clan .

At the latest in 1242 he was married to Matilda, Countess of Angus , heir daughter of Malcolm, 5th Earl of Angus , and became Earl of Angus by virtue of her right .

As early as 1242 he died on a campaign under Heinrich III. of England in Poitou , France . His marriage was childless. His widow married Gilbert de Umfraville in 1243 .
