John D. Rockefeller III

John D. Rockefeller III (born March 21, 1906 , † July 10, 1978 ) continued the philanthropic activities of his parents John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller as President of the Rockefeller Foundation .

John DR III was particularly involved in the area of ​​global birth control (Population Council) and founded the Asia Society . In New York he was one of the driving forces and financiers for the huge Lincoln Center project.

He is also considered the originator of Venture Philanthropy , a new approach to philanthropy that is based on entrepreneurial principles.
