John Darnton
John Darnton (born November 20, 1941 in New York City ) is a journalist and writer from the United States.
Life
Darnton is the son of Byron Darnton, a war correspondent for the New York Times, and his wife Eleanor. His brother is the historian Robert Darnton .
Darnton graduated from the University of Wisconsin. In 1966 he started working for the New York Times and worked there as a journalist for more than 40 years. In 1982 he won the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of Poland under martial law . In addition, Darnton won the George Polk Award twice , and since 2009 he has been responsible for its award in his role as "Curator". In 2003 Darnton became head of the New York Times London office. In 2005 he retired from the New York Times.
In 1996 Darnton wrote his first novel "Valley of Life" (Neanderthal). The novel became an instant bestseller. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
He is married to the journalist Nina Darnton . You live in New York City. They have two daughters and one son.
