György Bakos (athlete)

György Bakos (born July 6, 1960 in Zalaegerszeg ) is a former Hungarian hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .

Career

At the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1982 he reached the semi-finals, and at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 he was sixth. In 1984 he won silver in the 60 m hurdles at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and gold at the Friendship Competitions . The following year he won gold over 60 m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus and silver at the Universiade .

In 1987 he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Rome . At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, he reached the quarter-finals and finished eighth in the 4 x 100 meter relay with the Hungarian team.

From 1980 to 1991 he was Hungarian champion over 110 m hurdles twelve times in a row. In the hall he won the national title over 60 m hurdles seven times (1980–1982, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1990).
