John Daugman

John Daugman (born February 17, 1954 in the USA ) is an American computer scientist .

John Daugman was born the son of a Swede and a Latvian. He earned his BA and Ph.D. at Harvard University and taught there until he went to Cambridge University in 1991 . There he teaches and researches as an expert in computer-aided image processing at the Computer Laboratory .

In the scientific and industrial world, John Daugman became known in particular for his pioneering work in biometric iris recognition . All currently (2007) available on the global market commercial iris recognition systems are based on the developed by him iris code - algorithm .
