John Devereaux

John Devereaux (born January 17, 1962 in Brooklyn ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

Devereaux studied and played from 1980 to 1984 at Ohio University . The 2.05 meter indoor player achieved outstanding values ​​in the 1983/84 season with 18.7 points as well as 10.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocked throws per encounter and was then  selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA draft process in 1984 . The Texans let Devereaux call 78th place in the fourth selection round. Devereaux was not signed by San Antonio.

He moved to Italy, where he was initially a member of Pallacanestro Varese (1984/85), then Filanto Desio in 1985/86. With Varese he was in the final of the European club competition Korać Cup in March 1985 , but lost in the game to Olimpia Milan . In the summer of 1986 he joined the Jersey Jammers team in the United States Basketball League (USBL), and in the 1986/87 season he was in Spain with the second division club Caja de Ronda Málaga. Devereaux then moved on to the German basketball league  , where he was part of the Bayer Leverkusen team in 1987/88, which was supervised by Jim Kelly .

Devereaux went back to Spain, played in 1988/89 for the first division club Fórum Filatélico Valladolid and scored 22.2 points and 8.4 rebounds for the team in 40 league appearances. During his two years with the French first division club Cholet Basket (1989 to 1991), the American impressed with good statistical values: in 1989/90 he averaged 20.7 points and 9.2 rebounds in 34 league games, and 15 in 1990/91 Stakes 18.9 points and 8.1 rebounds.

In the game year 1991/92 Devereaux was briefly under contract with Rex Udinese in Italy, he also played nine games for the Columbus Horizon team in the US league CBA that season . Devereaux played 1992/93 first with Hasselt in Belgium, then with ASA Sceaux in France's second highest league.

Between 1993 and 1998 he played for three different clubs in Argentina.
