John Dummer (* 19th November 1944 in Surbiton , Greater London , England ) is an English blues-rock - drummer .

biography

Dummer started playing the drums while in school. In 1963 he founded the R&B band "Lester Square and the GT's", with which he was touring the UK and Germany for two years.

In 1967 the "John Dummer Blues Band" was formed, from 1969 onwards a number of albums were released. Over the years, band members have included Dave Kelly , Bob Hall , Tony McPhee and Jo Ann Kelly . When the material for the next album was rejected by the record company, Dummer broke up the band and worked in the following years for various record labels , including as a promotion manager.

From the mid-1970s Dummer drummed with the " Darts ", for which he also wrote several tracks, including Can't Get Enough Of Your Love , How Many Nights and Late Last Night .

In 1980 Dummer left the darts and formed the band "True Life Confessions" with his wife Helen. While the group had no chart successes, Dummer and his wife had 25 notable hits under the name "John Dummer & Helen April" with Blues Skies and Own Up If You're Over .

After Dummer had been manager of the band " The Screaming Blue Messiahs " for three years , the couple moved to France, where they renovated a mansion. This was followed by a windmill in Portugal, but then moved back to France.

Occasionally Dummer makes music with French musicians. Otherwise he restores and sells old furniture and writes novels.
