David "Dave" Kelly (born March 13, 1947 in Streatham , Greater London , England ) is a British blues singer, guitarist and composer who has helped shape the British blues scene since the 1960s.

biography

Rock 'n' roll fan Dave Kelly came to the blues through his sister Jo Ann Kelly (1944–1990), with whom he later took part in numerous music projects . In the mid-1960s he became a member of the John Dummer Blues Band , in the late 1960s he became a member of the group Tramp . In 1979, the collaboration with Paul Jones on the album "Willing" finally resulted in the blues band with Dave Kelly as guitarist and singer.

In addition to his obligations with the blues band, he recorded solo albums, toured with his own "Dave Kelly Band" and as an acoustic duo with Paul Jones. Dave Kelly wrote music for a number of film and television productions and commercials.

Over time he has performed with blues greats such as Muddy Waters , Howlin 'Wolf and John Lee Hooker . He has been voted best acoustic artist in BBC polls several times.

Kelly is currently touring Europe with The British Blues All Stars .
