John Dunlop Lumsden (born March 7, 1860 in Pitsligo, Aberdeen , † unknown) was a Scottish cyclist .

John Dunlop Lumsden was a Scottish champion in cycling. Between 1887 and 1891 he competed in several six-day races , which at that time were still contested by individual drivers and not by teams of two . In 1887 and 1889 he won the races in Edinburgh and in 1893 in Glasgow ; in Boston (1891) and Worcester , Massachusetts , he took second place each. In 1891 he started in the solo six-day race in New York , his placement there is not known. In addition, in 1894 he was third in the Bordeaux – Paris distance race . As recently as 1896, Lumsden was reported to have participated in the New York Six-Day Race, in which he had a serious crash and left prematurely after complaining of a lack of payment.

Little is known about Lumsden's later life. In 1894 he was sued in a paternity lawsuit involving two children born in 1887 and 1889 by the same woman who was married to another man. In the indictment he was referred to as a bicycle salesman and Galashiel's place of residence was stated. In 1922 the assets of Lumsden, now a professional furniture dealer, were imposed on him.
