John E. Struggles

John Edward Struggles (born November 29, 1913 in Wilmette , Illinois ; † October 4, 2005 in Winnetka , Illinois) was an American businessman and founder of the global recruitment consultancy Heidrick & Struggles .

Life

Struggles studied at Miami University in Oxford (Ohio) from 1932 to 1934 . He found his first job with the Consolidated Biscuit Company in Chicago . He came to Montgomery Ward in 1941 through a job at Pillsbury Mills . Here he became Labor Director. During World War II he served in the Pacific Fleet .

John E. Struggles co-founded Heidrick & Struggles with Gardner W. Heidrick in 1953 from a two-room Chicago office, which specializes in recruiting . Today the company operates worldwide and represents companies such as Walt Disney Company , Volvo , Nike , Coca-Cola , Starbucks and Honeywell .

John Struggles left behind his wife Dorothy Goetz, who had been married since 1937, as well as a son, three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. One daughter died in 1981.
