John Francis Dodge

John Francis Dodge (born October 25, 1864 in Niles , Michigan , † January 14, 1920 in New York ) was an American automobile manufacturer .

At a young age, John Francis Dodge and his brother Horace Elgin Dodge met with their father in the store. In 1886 the family moved to Detroit and the two brothers became the best engineers in the area. After working for various industries, they received their first automobile deal from Ransom Eli Olds in 1901 .

In 1907 John Dodge married Matilda Rausch (1883-1967). The family had three children, Frances (1914–1971), Daniel (1917–1938); the youngest, Anna Margaret , born in 1919, died at the age of five.

The Dodge company started producing its own cars in 1914.

Like his brother Horace, he died of the Spanish flu .

The Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance for classic automobiles took place on his former estate, where his widow lived until 1967 .
