John Garrels
John Garrels ( John Carlyle "Johnny" Garrels ; born November 18, 1885 in Bay City , Michigan , † October 21, 1956 in Grosse Ile Township , Michigan) was an American athlete .
At the 1908 Olympic Games in London, he won silver in the 110-meter hurdles and bronze in the shot put . He also took part in both discus throwing competitions, but did not get past the preliminary round.
John Garrels graduated from the University of Michigan in 1907 , where he was also active on the American football team.
