John Equal
John Gleich (born November 2, 1879 in Memel , † after 1927) was a German businessman, oriental and marine painter and publicist.
After leaving school he worked as a merchant, but learned self-taught the craft of painting and devoted himself from 1906 to painting. In 1909 and 1910 he made study trips to India and Ceylon , where he created many pictures of the oriental genre. Back in Germany, he mainly devoted himself to marine painting, also painting genre pictures, portraits and nudes. He lived in Berlin.
During the First World War he published two coloring books about the fighting of the German navy . He also published some essays on Indian architecture in the Deutsche Bauzeitung and in the publications of the German Castle Association .
