from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Gordon, 2nd Viscount of Kenmure (* after 1626 - † August 1639 ) was a Scottish nobleman .

He was the only child of John Gordon, 1st Viscount of Kenmure , and Lady Jean Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 7th Earl of Argyll . He was still a minor when, when his father died in September 1634 , he inherited his title of nobility as 2nd Viscount of Kenmure , 2nd Lord Lochinvar and 3rd Baronet , of Lochinvar in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright . On March 17, 1635, his father's possessions, including the family estate of Kenmure Castle , were officially confirmed to him. Because of his minority, his lands were guarded by his maternal relatives Archibald Campbell, Lord Lorne , and William Douglas, 7th Earl of Morton .

He suffered from poor health and was still a student when he died in August 1639. His baronet title expired on his death, while the Viscount and Lord titles fell to his second uncle, John Gordon of Barncrosh and Buittle , due to broad inheritance .
