John Hamilton, 1st Baronet (of Trebinshun House)

Sir John Hamilton, 1st Baronet (February 1726 - January 24, 1784 ) was a British military man and nobleman.

He was one of two sons of John Hamilton, High Sheriff of Kent , and Mary Wright. He was baptized on February 21, 1726.

He served in the Royal Navy and achieved the rank of captain . In the American War of Independence he was one of the British defenders in the siege of Quebec in 1775 . On August 24, 1776 he was given the hereditary title of baronet in the Baronetage of Great Britain , of Trebinshun House in the County of Brecon .

On October 3, 1763, he married Cassandra Agnes Chamberlayne. With her he had two sons:
