John Hamilton (trumpeter)

John "Bugs" Hamilton (born March 15, 1911 in St. Louis , † August 15, 1947 ) was an American jazz trumpeter .

Live and act

Hamilton moved to New York at the age of 19, where he first played with Chick Webb and from 1935 with Kaiser Marshall . From 1938 to 1942 he worked for Fats Waller and in 1943 for Eddie South . In the same year, he contracted tuberculosis and returned to St. Louis, where he died in 1947. In the field of jazz he was involved in seven recording sessions between 1938 and 1940.

He is not to be confused with the jazz musician of the same name who played woodwind instruments in the 1930s and 40s. a. played with Gus Arnheim and Bobby Sherwood .
