John Kirby (Bishop)

John Kirby (born October 29, 1938 in Baylough , Athlone , County Roscommon ) is an Irish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Clonfert .

Life

Kirby attended Garbally College and studied Catholic theology in Maynooth . Kirby was ordained a priest on June 23, 1963. He later taught at Garbally College , of which he became president. On February 18, 1988, he was appointed Bishop of Clonfert .

On July 16, 2019, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
