John Lagodny

John Lagodny is a former Luxembourg car racing driver.

Career

John Lagodny began his racing career in touring car motorsport in the late 1960s. He drove there in the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) and in non-championship races exclusively in the 24-hour races of Spa-Francorchamps and the 6-hour races at the Nürburgring . In 1967 and the following year, Lagodny started with a Mini Cooper S in the 2nd division. From 1973 to 1976 he drove in the ETCC in a BMW 2002 TI and a Sunbeam Avenger racing car.

In parallel, he started in between 1966 and 1976 in some rallies, reaching 1,976 at the International Gulf Tulpenrallye the European Rally Championship in Class 2 the group.

From 1977 to 1979 Lagodny drove in the Belgian Touring Car Championship of the Benelux Championship and was able to celebrate his greatest successes in circuit motorsport there. First he started in 1977 with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR in the +2000 class and at the end of the season he reached 5th place in the overall standings.

In the following two years he successfully raced the Porsche 935 K1 acquired from Kremer Racing and was able to record several overall victories, which he achieved mainly in Colmar-Berg in Luxembourg . In 1980 he got out of the Benelux championship and contested some non-championship races with the Porsche 935 at the Nürburgring , which he won. Together with Nico Demuth , he drove a Ford Escort II RS2000 in touring car races in Spa-Francorchamps and on the Nürburgring, both of which finished 18th in the overall standings.

Lagodny drove a race in the German Racing Championship (DRM) in 1981 with a Porsche 935 and in 1982 with a BMW M1 at the Nürburgring .

He drove his last two races in 1990 and 1992 at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race, which he and his team drivers had to end prematurely.
