John Lestrange († 1269)
John Lestrange (also called John III. Lestrange) (* around 1194, † 1269 ) was an Anglo- Norman Marcher Lord .
He was a son of John II. Lestrange († January 1223), whose family owned extensive estates and Knockin Castle on the Welsh border in Shropshire . In 1214 he took part in the failed campaign of King John Ohneland in Poitou . Like his father, he also served as sheriff of Shropshire and Staffordshire and was involved in the fighting with the Welsh in the Welsh Marches for many years . In 1231 King Heinrich III. the Wrockwardine estate in Shropshire as a fief. Between 1233 and 1240 he was constable of the royal castles of Montgomery, Shrewsbury , Bridgnorth and Chester Castle . In January 1245 he served as the king's negotiator in negotiations with the Welsh prince Dafydd ap Llywelyn .
He was a supporter of the king during the Second War of the Barons .
He married Lucia, a daughter of Robert de Tregoz. He had four sons and two daughters, including

His eldest son John died in 1276, his son John was appointed 1st Baron Strange of Knockin in 1299 . Another grandson, Fulk , son of Robert, was named first Baron Strange of Blackmere in 1309 .
