John MacDougall

John MacDougall (born December 8, 1947 in Dunfermline , Fife , † August 13, 2008 ) was a British Labor Party politician .

life and career

MacDougall studied marine engineering at Royal Dockyard College in Rosyth and later attended Glenrothes College and Fife Technical College. In 1981 he joined the Labor Party. Soon after, he was elected to the Fife Regional Council , of which he was a member until 2001.

From 2001 until his death he was a member of the House of Commons . There he sat first for Central Fife until 2005, then for Glenrothes . In 2007 he was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma , which made him chronically ill and his presence in the House of Commons was only sporadic. Although he announced that he would run again in the next election, he died on August 13, 2008.

MacDougall was married with two children.
