John McNally (born February 1, 1951 ) is a British politician of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Political career

In the 2005 by-elections for the regional council of the Falkirk Council Area , the hairdresser McNally, who lives in Denny , won the seat of the Herbertshire electoral district for the SNP . This outcome is remarkable in that it was previously the Labor Party's safest seat in Falkirk. He defended his mandate in the regional elections in 2007 and 2012.

The party placed McNally in the 2010 general election in the Falkirk constituency . Despite the increase in votes compared to the previous election, McNally was clearly defeated by incumbent Labor MP Eric Joyce in second place. For the following general election in 2015 , the Labor Party elected Karen Whitefield, a former member of the Scottish Parliament . After the SNP gained massive votes in these elections, McNally achieved the highest percentage of votes with 57.7% and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time . There he is a member of the Environmental Audit Committee . In the early general election in 2017 , McNally maintained his mandate despite losing votes.
