John Moore, Baron Moore of Lower Marsh

John Edward Michael Moore, Baron Moore of Lower Marsh PC (born November 26, 1937 in Kentish Town - † May 20, 2019 ) was a British manager and politician of the Conservative Party . He was a Member of the House of Commons for 18 years and minister several times during Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's tenure, and since 1992 a Life Peer member of the House of Lords .

Life

Professional career and Member of the House of Commons

After attending the Licensed Victuallers School, Moore did his military service in the Royal Sussex Regiment in South Korea between 1955 and 1957 and then studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). During his studies in 1958 he was chairman of the Conservative Association at the LSE. He then worked as a manager at banks and stockbrokers until 1974 . During a stay abroad in the USA between 1961 and 1965 he supported the politics of the Democratic Party in Chicago .
