John Pasche

John Pasche (born April 24, 1945 ) is an artist and graphic designer who is best known for designing the " Tongue and Lip Design " logo for The Rolling Stones .

Career

John Pasche studied graphic design from 1963 to 1967 at Brighton College of Art , where he received his BA in 1967 , and until 1970 at the Royal College of Art , where he obtained a master’s degree .

At the Royal College of Art , John Pasche created a movie poster for the film Judex in 1969 and one for Roger Vadim's film Adams perky rib in 1970 .

Music industry

In 1971, Pasche designed the “Tongue and Lip Design” logo , which was originally shown on the Sticky Fingers album . In August 2008, the design was voted the best band logo of all time in an online poll. Pasche created several posters for many tours of the Rolling Stones, for example for the European tour in 1970 and 1973 as well as for the US tour in 1972. He made an advertising sticker for Goats Head Soup , which shows a pot of soup with a goat's head in it. and the cover for the single She's So Cold .

Pasche created other works for United Artists Records . These included album and single covers as well as concert posters such as "The Raven" (1979), "The Stranglers IV" (1979), "La Folie" (1981), "Live (X Cert)" (1979), " Duchess "(1979) and" Peaches "(1979).

He designed the picture for the single "The Worker" by the band Fischer-Z and the album cover for Going Deaf For A Living . For The Vapors he designed the album cover for New Clear Days in 1980 and for another single in 1979 for the band Dr. Feel good .

He also worked for Chysalis Records , mainly for Art of Noise (1985-87), "Les Enfants" (1985), "Innocence" (1990), "Into Paradise" (1991), "Kingmaker" (1991) and Jethro Tull (1987).

His freelance work includes designs for well-known artists such as Jimi Hendrix (1977), Judas Priest (1975), David Bowie (1976), The Who (1975) and for the Bay City Rollers .
