Swimming the Nile was a German rock band . The trio was founded in 1988 by Mathis Richter-Reichhelm (vocals, guitar), Holger Boettcher (drums) and Dany Rhodes (bass) in Berlin and initially called themselves "New Clear Days". In 1992 Dany Rhodes left the band and was replaced by A. Jay Hale on bass.

The trio established itself as a live band as early as 1989 and was to be seen on several tours and many festival appearances in Germany and other European countries over the next few years. Among other things, the group was on tour as the opening act for Fury in the Slaughterhouse . In 1990 the trio signed a record deal with WEA and released three albums, six singles and two EPs by 1994. The first demo recordings were made by Moses Schneider and the album productions from 1991 by Franz Plasa .

After the production of the third album Home and the subsequent tour, the band broke up in early 1995.
