John Porter Houston
John Porter Houston (born April 21, 1933 in Alhambra , California , † October 13, 1987 in Bloomington , Indiana ) was an American Romanist .
life and work
Houston studied at the University of California at Berkeley and in Aix-en-Provence . He received his doctorate from Yale University in 1959 with the thesis The design of Rimbaud 's poetry (New Haven / London 1963, Westport 1977) and was Professor of French and Italian at Indiana University Bloomington until his untimely death .
