John R. Dilworth

John R. Dilworth , actually Jonathan Robert Dilworth , (born February 14, 1963 in New York City ) is an American animator , film director and screenwriter.

Life

Dilworth attended the School of Visual Arts in New York until 1985 and then began to work for the advertising agency Baldi, Bloom and Whelan Advertising. Since his studies he has been working on his own animated films. In 1991 he founded his own design and animation studio Stretch Films and in 1995 released the short animation film The Chicken from Outer Space , which was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Animated Short in 1996. For Cartoon Network , Dilworth then designed a series based on the short film. The animated series Courage the Cowardly Dog was created , in which Dilworth directed, acted as executive producer and was involved in the script. He has also created short films and series for Nickelodeon, PBS, MTV and HBO. Starred in Chris Landreth's 2013 animated short Tricks of the Subconscious in Dilworth.

Dilworth also works as a lecturer in animation and has taught at New York University , the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Cape Fear Community College in North Carolina. Dilworth is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , among others .
