John Ralph Koch

John Ralph Koch (also John R. Koch , born September 23, 1898 in Janesville , Wisconsin , † March 13, 1989 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin) was an American chemist .

Life

Family and education

The out of the US state located City native Janesville John Ralph Koch, son of William Cook and Elizabeth Helen Falter cook, turned to the High School Accounts to the study of chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to 1920 he acquired the academic degree of Bachelor of Science , 1922, a Master of Science , in 1924 he became Ph. D. doctorate .

John Ralph Koch married Catherine Dodge on June 12, 1926. He died in Milwaukee in March 1989 at the age of 90. He found his final resting place next to his wife at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Janesville.

Professional background

After John Ralph Koch had served in the First World War in the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Heavy Artillery of the United States Army , he took a position as a Lecture Assistant in Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1919. In 1921 John Ralph Koch moved to the Lacquer Department of the Sherwin-Williams Company as a research assistant , in 1923 he was promoted to instructor, in 1924 to research chemist, and in 1925 he resigned. After a brief stint as a consulting chemist for the Fisher Body Corporation, Koch followed a call in 1925 as Associate Professor of Chemistry at Marquette University in Milwaukee, in 1926 he was made full professor and head of the Department of Chemistry, in 1956 he was retired .

Koch was elected a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Sigma Xi and the American Chemical Society , where he served as Councilor in 1939. He published numerous articles in scientific journals.
