John Rooney (born October 20, 1979 in Galway ) is a former Irish squash player .
Career
John Rooney played on the PSA World Tour from 1998 to 2011 and won two titles during that period. He reached his highest place in the world rankings with rank 52 in October 2004. In 2009 and 2010 he was Irish national champion . At World Championships he qualified for the main field in 2003 and 2009 . In 2003 he reached the second round, in 2009 he lost his opening game. With the Irish national team he took part in world championships in 1999 , 2003 , 2007 and 2009 . He was also part of the Irish squad several times at European Championships . In 2011 he ended his active career and took on various coaching positions in the United States.
