John Russell Waters
John Russell Waters (born December 8, 1948 in London , England ) is a British actor who is particularly successful in Australia .
Life
John Waters was born in London and moved to Australia in 1968. He had his first appearance in 1969 when he took on the role of Claude in the musical Hair . He later also played the role of Judas in the Australian production of the musical Godspell . He also became known to the Australian public through roles in various television series, such as All Saints . It wasn't until the 1980s that he was also booked for films. He appeared in Breaker Morant in 1980 and in The Green Devils of the Mekong in 1982 . From 1972 to 1991 he starred in the Australian television series Play School for nearly 20 years . In 1988 he won the AFI Award for Best Actor for his role as Tom Garfield in the film Boulevard of Broken Dreams .
